Pilgrim began in 2014 as a physical journey through the album ‘The Inheritors’ by electronic musician James Holden. In some ways it is a very simple piece of work, Lucy uses the expansive, transformative qualities of both movement and music to manifest connections between real and imagined spaces. The work shifts between hypnotic, shamanic and euphoric states producing a physical vocabulary that is irreverent and eclectic.
After this elongated period of staying in place, pause, isolation, lockdown and general petrification, Lucy is using this moment at Wainsgate to reconnect to their performance practice and curiosity towards dance as a necessary response to this age of perpetual crisis.
After the performance, resident artist and DJ Alan Coulson, will be spinning some tunes, and the lovely Wainsgate Pop-Up Bar will be open, so hang around and enjoy the rest of your evening with us.
